Karen (First Henshin) - Mermaid Melody Pitchi Pitchi Pitch

Inspiration: For a Mermaid Melody Group Mew_Pudding was doing so I figured Karen was the easiest out of all the costumes (that I thought) it never made any big debuts but *shrugs* I really like the design but really unless I watch an actual episode or Cosplay with Mew_Pudding againI will not do another Mermaid Melody Costume...
Completed: June 7, 2005
Worn At: Anime Next 2005 (The Rave)
Costume Pluses:
1. My leggings stayed up...I think that was a huge accomplishment on account of I was dancing in them! And they stayed up!
2. Got lots of compliments on the lace
3. The swirly patten on the dress came out well, it was a pain to do but came out well!
Costume Misuses:
1. I didn’t like the way the arm things came out...I didn’t use interfacing for them though..2. The white on the interfacing showed on my boots
3. My wig just looked not accurate so I need to fix that next time.
4. I honestly have never watched the anime or read the manga. If I had Karen comes in later, I refer to Coco, Karen and Noelle as the 'Outer senshi' so it takes a while to get to them. Although ive looked at every Mermaid Melody picture I could find, read over all the characters and such and read all the spoilers so I am like an expert on the anime/manga and ive never seen it.
Cost: 50$
Fave Aspect:
I got to be a siren and a songstress....a siren song stress! What could you not love? My hair was like super cool too! *thumbs up*
Least Fave aspect
:1. There was a never ending fight between my bosoms and butt between which one was going to come out in the dress. Not good trying to fix that all the time....
2. The way the costume looked on me...It was just not flattering on my figure
NOTES:
1. Two arm gauntlets - Made from fabric turned inside out. Sewn with elactic to fit around my wrists and wire so that it would stay up.
2. Two leg gauntlets - Made the same way as the gauntlets except different shape and form and I used inetrfacing.
3. Boots - Regular black combat boots
4. Wig - Regular purple wig about shoulder length
5. Shell necklace - Attempted to make it out of clay failed miserably. I then bought some fake sea shells and painted them.
6. Gloves - Regular gloves
7. Earrings - Sculpted from sculpy clay, baked in the oven and painted. (Pictures pending)
8. The Dress
[x] The dress was a slip modified to fit me, bought it at a thrift store.
[x] Two color purple fabric, gathering and hand sewn downb the dress
[x] The swirly patten - It's rope with fabric sewn over it and curved over to make the design.
